Dolle's — 'Catherine'
Dolle's Candyland
Boardwalk lore says the taffy landmark is visited by 'Catherine' — a water-drenched spirit tied to the 1933 hurricane. Staff stories, cold spots, taffy machines that start themselves. Legend, clearly labeled: but stand here at closing time and decide for yourself.
The Shoreham — 'Betsey'
The Shoreham Hotel / Shenanigan's Irish Pub
The Shoreham (Shenanigan's Irish Pub downstairs) is reputed to be the most haunted address on the boards — basement tragedies and a phantom woman named Betsey. Ask the bar staff; some will tell you, some will just look at you.

The Henry Hotel — phantom jazz
The Henry Hotel
The best-documented story in town. In 1973, a Berlin man told Salisbury University's folklore collectors that on winter nights he'd hear big-band music — a full party — inside the shuttered, empty Henry Hotel. The closer he walked, the fainter it got; on the grass it stopped entirely. Whether it's the ghosts of the great musicians or the memory of a building that held so much life, this stop is why the tour exists.
The Inlet — spectral ships
Ocean City Inlet & Jetty
Offshore phantoms: watermen's stories of spectral ships and unexplained shadows gliding off Assateague. The '33 storm left lost vessels and, the stories say, stranded souls. Look south past the jetty lights.

The only grave in Ocean City
Captain William Carhart's Grave
Finale, across the bridge: the only marked grave in all of Ocean City — Capt. William Carhart, shipwrecked January 5, 1799. The town has no cemeteries; legend says he was buried on the beach, then moved inland so a high tide wouldn't uncover him and 'he'd come back to haunt 'em.' Whether anyone lies beneath the stone is still unknown. It sits in a residential neighborhood — visit respectfully, and keep your voice down.
