This did not happen
There has never been a jellyfish invasion of Ocean City and there is not going to be one. What there is, most summers, is sea nettles — and this August was a bad one, with around two thousand people stung in a fortnight. The places these levels are set in are all real, all in this guide, and all reachable on foot or by boat. The animal is real, the season is real, the sting is real. The invasion is a video game.
They are also not dangerous, and the Beach Patrol says so plainly: the jellyfish in Ocean City are not the kind you hear about being deadly in Florida and Australia. A sting is a welt and an afternoon, not an emergency.
One thing worth knowing before you swim: the usual advice about vinegar is the wrong advice for the animal in this water.
