What kind of puzzles these are

Criss-cross grids, not American-style symmetric ones. A symmetric 15×15 needs about 78 entries and Ocean City does not contain 78 crossable names, so filling one would mean importing dictionary words with nothing to do with the town. The trade was made the other way: fewer entries, and every single one of them a real place, person or organisation here.

Nothing in these grids was made up, either. A clue is a sentence lifted from the place's own page, a person's own biography, or a dated fact in the history record — and the generator refuses any clue it cannot re-derive from that field, character for character. If a clue stumps you, the answer is readable somewhere on this site.

The history record

The Island round asks eight questions of Ocean City history and marks them for you, one district at a time.
