Officer William McC. Morris
One of the first troopers of the Maryland State Police, the force Governor Ritchie sent out in February 1921. Stationed at Pocomoke City as his headquarters under Substation E at Cambridge - the only substation on the Eastern Shore - with his beat running "principally between this city and the Virginia line and also between here and Ocean City." The Worcester Democrat found him "a gentleman of pleasing appearance" who "seems to know how to handle the situation." He is the only law-enforcement officer named on the Ocean City road in the year's record.
