In July 1899 he gave the address of welcome to the Maryland Bankers' Association at Ocean City "Representing the Mayor of Ocean City"; in February 1898 he took, jointly with Clayton J. Purnell, the mortgage on George W. Bunting's Oriental Hotel at Ocean City, and in November 1899 he advertised the hotel for sale as assignee of that mortgage.
