A $3,000 fire partly destroyed Lynch's-For-Everything in west Ocean City on 11 July 1943, and it was fought by the Berlin and Ocean City volunteers together with the Coast Guard fire boat and Harbor Control — a fireman and a Coast Guardsman were hurt.
