History

Slim Marshall

bandleader · active 1937

Leader of a seven-piece Black orchestra that played Ocean City, Maryland and Rosedale Beach at Millsboro, Delaware in the summer of 1937 and was reported by the Baltimore Afro-American on 17 July as 'still going good' at both. The band's other members were given as R. T. (Shorty) Johnson, Lonnie Johnson, Ellsworth Brevard, J. B. Evans and two more whose names the scan destroyed. Rosedale Beach was the Black resort of the Delaware shore; a band working it and Ocean City in one season is the only evidence the campaign has of the circuit that joined them.
