Owner of three trawlers which put into the new West Ocean City fishing harbour in August 1937 and whose verdict on it the Democratic Messenger printed: 'Only four things are needed — ice, fuel, docks and market. You have the best harbor along the Atlantic, with plenty of water for any of the hundreds of fishing boats which troll off the coast. Using your port as a base, we can not only save fuel and food but can save at least three hours running time to port with our catch, which many times would mean as much as $500 to us.' His boats that day were the 72-foot Voyager under Capt. S. L. Robins, and the 65-foot Isaac Pass and Fulton Forest.
