Deaconess Maria S. Pitts
Episcopal deaconess, Ocean City · active 1922–
A native of Maryland who had served the Episcopal Church in Brazil and in New York, and who came to Ocean City from Princess Anne. In December 1922 she bought the Poole Cottage at Ocean City and took up residence there. Note the surname: the campaign's founding-era record includes Dr. Hilary R. Pitts, one of the town's founders, and any relationship is unestablished.
