L. D. Lynch

President of the Bank of Ocean City, which opened January 3, 1916, in the former McGregor Building on Baltimore Avenue. An incorporator and part owner of the building, he bought out William B. S. Powell's interest in 1921 and John Hallett's in 1927, becoming its full owner.

    Bank of Ocean City president L. D. Lynch buys out former mayor William B. S. Powell's share of the McGregor Building, the bank's Baltimore Avenue home.

    The Bank of Ocean City (opened January 3, 1916) shared the first floor of the former McGregor Building with a general store; two of the bank's incorporators, L. D. Lynch and William B. S. Powell, were part owners of the building. In 1921 Lynch, the bank president, bought out Powell's interest (and John Hallett's in 1927, giving him full ownership). The 1921 Sanborn fire-insurance map captures the block at its commercial peak: four adjoining bays on the east side of Baltimore Avenue - the two-story corner building holding the bank and general store, with a market, a dry goods store and a hardware store in the three attached bays.
