Josiah Pierce, Jr.
civil engineer · active 1892
Washington civil engineer employed by the Sinepuxent Beach Company in the spring of 1892 to survey parts of its Ocean City beach property. The Snow Hill Democratic Messenger's Berlin column of 9 April 1892: "Mr. Josiah Pierce, Jr., of Washington passed through Berlin Tuesday evening en route for Ocean City. He is a civil engineer and is employed by the Sinepuxent Beach Company to survey some portions of their beach property. We understand that he reports a large sale of Ocean City lots in Washington recently." He is the first named surveyor the campaign has for the land company that laid out the modern town's blocks, and he appears in the county paper only this once.
