City Manager of Ocean City for a matter of months. He resigned on 8 March 1990 in a special session called for nothing else, effective at five o'clock the following afternoon. Council President George Hurley accepted the resignation "with sincere regret" and said he understood "the impact that his move to Ocean City has had on his family"; Braun said "It is with great regret that tonight I am resigning as City Manager of Ocean City" and thanked his department heads. Three weeks later the council appointed Dennis Dare in his place.

Anthony Barrett's successor Joseph Braun resigned on 8 March, months into the job, in a special session called for nothing else. President Hurley: "In the meeting with Mr. Joseph Braun today, he has informed me of his desire to resign. It is with sincere regret that I hereby accept the City Manager's resignation. I do understand the impact that his move to Ocean City has had on his family … This action will be official at his request at 5:00 p.m., Friday, March 9th." Braun: "It is with great regret that tonight I am resigning as City Manager of Ocean City. … I particularly want to thank my department heads." Three weeks later Dare was appointed. He had given the boardwalk updates in 1986 and the replenishment reports ever since.
