History

John P. Owens

Ocean City's postmaster in 1881, and the proprietor of its confectionery, tobacco and cigar store, saloon and billiard room, selling fancy articles, bathers' goods and shell work. He and his family arrived from off-island in late May 1881 and quartered "at the old stand", so he had held the office at least one previous season.
