Proprietor of the Shore Inn, a strictly kosher hotel on Wicomico Street near the boardwalk at Ocean City, Md. (telephone Ocean City 154J), advertised in New York's Yiddish daily Der Morgen Zshurnal in June and July 1932 with a shochet on the premises and 'very moderate' prices. His business address is given as 2217 Brookfield Avenue, Baltimore, Md., telephone Lafayette 0658, and the advertisement adds that he caters in Baltimore 'as always' — so the Ocean City hotel was the summer arm of a Baltimore kosher catering business.

The Shore Inn, strictly kosher with its own shochet, was already advertising Ocean City into the New York Yiddish press in May 1931 — a year earlier than the campaign knew.
Der Morgen Zshurnal / Yidishes Tageblatt of New York carries the Shore Inn's display advertisement on 21 May, 24 May and 28 June 1931: "SHORE INN — Ocean City, Md.", in Yiddish "the best and finest resort for your vacation — strictly kosher and for the discriminating — SHOCHET ON THE PREMISES — hot and cold running water in all rooms, bathing in the sea straight from the hotel — prices very moderate — we reckon with the circumstances of the present time. For reservations: J. ZUBIN, 2217 Brookfield Avenue, Baltimore, Md., Phone Laf. 0658." The 1932 pass found the same advertiser, then at "Wicomico near Boardwalk" with an Ocean City telephone, and asked how long the Shore Inn had run.
Found the same way: by measuring the residual out-of-region facet instead of writing it off. Seven pages in the whole of 1931 outside Maryland, Delaware, Virginia and the District carry the exact phrase "Ocean City, Md.", and three of them are this hotel. A Baltimore kosher caterer with a summer house at Ocean City and a New York advertising budget, two seasons running, in the worst years of the Depression.
