Rev. Harvey Johnson
Baltimore Baptist minister (Union Baptist Church) and the most prominent Black civil-rights organiser in Maryland in the 1880s and 1890s. In August 1891 the New York Age's Baltimore correspondent placed him first on the list of men who ought to form a statewide Black organisation, five days before Maryland's Republicans convened at Ocean City — the summer in which a statewide body was 'effected at Ocean City' with authority delegated by representatives of fifteen counties and Baltimore City. Whether Johnson attended the Ocean City meeting is not established.
