H. L. Birch
Captain of the Green Run Coast Guard station, sixteen miles south of Ocean City. On the night of 25 August 1933 he and his assistant H. I. Mason — between them the station's entire crew — were reported missing after the hurricane of 23 August, and an overturned lifeboat marked 'Green Run Coast Guard' was found in the bay. Whether the two men were later found alive is not established by any source read for 1933.
