History

George W. Bunting

hotel keeper · active 1898–1899

Ocean City hotel keeper who mortgaged his hotel property to Clayton J. Purnell and William F. Johnson on 8 February 1898 and lost it: the assignee advertised the property for sale at public auction at the Snow Hill court house door on 12 December 1899, "all that hotel property at Ocean City, Md., now occupied by the said George W. Bunting." The hotel's name is illegible in the surviving newspaper text, and no report of the sale itself appears in the remaining 1899 issues.
