Owner and proprietor of the New Avalon Hotel on the west side of Baltimore Avenue, Ocean City. Married Ada Hastings of Ocean City about 1909; by 1922 they had separated after "domestic difficulties." He lived at the closed hotel out of season with their three small sons, aged six, eight and eleven, and was found dead beside his bed by the children at about seven on the morning of Monday 2 October 1922, aged about forty; cause undetermined and thought natural. In December his widow, Ada B. Gaskins, conveyed the New Avalon Hotel and Annex to their four children — William Kendall, George Edgar, Linwood and Alan Reynold Gaskins — for one dollar, and it was then sold by an assignee to Harriet H. Cropper for $6,637.50.
