Captain Domenico Bianco
Master of the Italian ship Fortuna, which he ran ashore on the bar off Ocean City on the evening of 4 December 1911 rather than let her sink, after her rudder carried away on a passage from Buenos Aires to Philadelphia with a cargo of bone. His crew of twenty — fourteen Italians, five Norwegians and one Black seaman — spent the night aboard while the Ocean City and Isle of Wight life-saving crews failed to reach them with a breeches buoy, and came off by boat at daylight. The ship was floated on 7 December and went on to Philadelphia under her own power.
