Charles Simpson drowns at Ocean City; the tide carries his body two miles up the bay before it is found.
The Messenger of 11 October 1913: "The remains of Charles Simpson, who was drowned at Ocean City about a week ago, were found two miles up the bay Tuesday. A strong tide was running north at the time of the accident." No account of the drowning itself was printed in any Ocean City page of the paper that autumn, and no inquest was reported. It is the third Ocean City drowning the campaign has recorded in six years, after Ray Harmon and Dr. E. W. Crowe in 1908, and it is a bay death rather than a surf death.
