Capt. William Hastings

A captain of an Ocean City fishing crew who on 2 December 1922 walked up to a rival captain, Oliver Parker, outside Schaefer's bakery, put a hand on his shoulder and, when Parker turned, shot him five times with an automatic pistol firing steel-capped .25 bullets. He was arrested by two of the Maryland State Police and held in the Snow Hill jail without bail; a coroner's jury found he had killed Parker. The outcome of any trial is not established by the 1922 record. Whether he was related to the Hastings hotel family of Ocean City is not established.
