Peninsula Chamber of Commerce

A Delmarva-wide business association organised in the autumn of 1922, with temporary officers and a board of directors elected to serve until the first members' meeting in February 1923. Its stated purpose was "to promote the economic, civic and social welfare of the people and communities of the Del-Mar-Via peninsula, and to bring before the people of the United States facts concerning the peninsula in order to secure wider markets, more visitors to this section, and more responsible and progressive property owners," through a national advertising programme. Ocean City was among the first eight towns to announce it would join, with Dover, Milford, Seaford, Cambridge, Centreville, Chestertown and Salisbury; Crisfield, Pocomoke City and Cape Charles were expected to follow.
