From the Worcester Democrat's 31 March 1923 season preview: "A contract has been let with the Ocean City Ice Company to supply the residents with 20,000 gallons daily of pure artesian water, pumped from a 260-foot well." The same article reports the improved sewer system for residences and hotels then under construction and a new lighting system to be installed.

For the third year running Ocean City levied a dollar per hundred
On 14 July 1936, on the motion of Dr. F. J. Townsend seconded by W. Preston Laws, the council 'decided to make the tax levy for 1936 at $1.00 per Hundred same as 1935'. The same minute adds some forty names to the tax books - Samuel Adams and wife, furniture, $600; Lester Esham, multi-store and apartments, $1,000; Talbot Bunting, extra store on house, $720; Harland Huston, apartments on 12th Street, $4,200; Charles J. and Lydia B. Jackson, dance hall addition, $3,000; McKenny Price, new house and garage apartments, $3,600; the Ocean City Ice Company office, $300 - reduces three assessments, and strikes several erroneous 1934 and 1935 taxes off, including $410 against the estate of Geo. W. Purnell. Held flat since 1934, the dollar rate spans the whole of the town's Depression.
