Maryland's state medical society, chartered in 1799. It held a session at the Plimhimmon Hotel in Ocean City on Saturday 10 September 1904 at which papers were read by Drs. Harry C. Hyde, E. N. Brush, Herbert Harlan, Jeffries Buck, George W. Dobbin, A. D. Atkinson, F. J. Kirby, E. J. Dirickson, William T. Watson, Guy Steele and William D. Straughn, among others — one more body added to the run of state conventions that had been coming to the resort since 1898.

Maryland's doctors read papers at the Plimhimmon Hotel — the state medical faculty holds a session at Ocean City.
'At the meeting of the Medical and Chirurgical Faculty of Maryland at the Plimhimmon Hotel, in Ocean City, last Saturday' — 10 September 1904 — 'papers were read by Drs. Harry C. Hyde, E. N. Brush, Herbert Harlan, Jeffries Buck, George W. Dobbin, A. D. Atkinson, F. J. Kirby, E. J. Dirickson, William T. Watson, Guy Steele, William D. Straughn' and others whose names run off the column. The Faculty, founded 1799, is the state medical society; E. N. Brush was superintendent of the Sheppard and Enoch Pratt Hospital and Herbert Harlan a well-known Baltimore ophthalmologist. Ocean City in the same season is recorded as having a resident physician, 'Dr. Luetcher,' who was called to John P. Moore, Jr. of Snow Hill when he fell ill with appendicitis at the resort in July and advised his removal to Johns Hopkins.
