On this day in 1930 — For a sixth documented year the Pennsylvania Railroad runs a separate advertised excursion to Ocean City "FOR COLORED PATRONS" — $1.98 from Tasley, Thursday 11 September, after Labor Day again.
Two of the pattern's elements survive a sixth year exactly: the fare and the departure. The third — a matching white excursion in the same paper — cannot be tested at all in 1930, because there isn't one. All 144 Peninsula Enterprise pages matching 'ocean city' were read, and the phrase 'for white patrons' returns no Peninsula Enterprise page for 1930 anywhere in Chronicling America. That is a fact about this year's record, not about the railroad's practice.
